Didanosine is used to treat HIV and AIDS. The medication has been approved for use in treating adults and children as young as two weeks old. Didanosine is not a cure for HIV or AIDS, but it can stop the HIV virus from multiplying and destroying healthy cells. Off-label didanosine uses include preventing HIV infection in people who have been exposed to the HIV virus.
